React Native Engineer

Austin, TX (Onsite required)

About the Role

We're looking for a skilled React Native Engineer to join our team in Austin and help create seamless mobile experiences that bridge our digital and physical gameplay. Working onsite with our cross-functional team, you'll develop responsive, performant applications that provide essential touchpoints for players in the Kingdom Quest universe. Your work will directly impact how players interact with our world both digitally and in real life.

Responsibilities

• Design and build cross-platform mobile applications using React Native
• Create responsive, intuitive UIs that align with our established design system
• Implement real-time features that interface with our backend services
• Integrate with location-based and proximity services (GPS, Bluetooth, NFC)
• Optimize application performance across various devices
• Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and gameplay specialists
• Participate in code reviews and technical planning
• Troubleshoot and debug issues across the mobile application stack

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with React Native development
• Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and React fundamentals
• Experience with state management in React applications (Redux, Context API, etc.)
• Familiarity with native build tools, processes, and app distribution
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and WebSockets for real-time communication
• Understanding of mobile UX/UI principles and accessibility standards
• Experience with version control systems (Git preferred)
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code with appropriate documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Nice to Have

• Experience with location-based or AR/VR applications
• Knowledge of native module development for React Native
• Experience with offline-first application architecture
• Understanding of iOS and Android platform-specific considerations
• Background in game development or interactive entertainment
• Experience with push notifications and background processes
• Knowledge of mobile security best practices
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications
